The AMCA National Conference brings together members from all states and territories across Australia to discuss the most critical issues facing businesses operating in the commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry. 

This year’s conference will feature a mix of leadership, business management and technical sessions that will ensure all attendees leave with fresh ideas and actionable strategies to take back to their business.

Caroline Glanville-Jones, Transformational Facilitator, the Leadership Tree

Caroline brings 30 years of global experience as a researcher, designer and facilitator of the mindset and capability work that supports successful organisational and personal transformation. Her passion is transforming “what’s possible” for individuals, teams and organisations and their performance, through interventions that focus on authenticity and resilience, and aligning individual and organisational purpose and meaning. She has a deep understanding of what it takes for leaders to lead from Be-ing rather than Do-ing.

Caroline will be presenting on moving matters mindfully with a leadership perspective.

Graham Kenny, Managing Director, Strategic factors

Graham Kenny is an internationally recognised expert in strategy and performance measurement. He writes regularly for theHarvard Business Review, has written more than 70 articles for international journals and has authored five books. He is passionate about helping boards, executives and managers lead successful organisations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. He does this in three ways: 1) Upskilling leaders – through more than 20 years of seminars and workshops on strategy and performance management; by producing world-class materials; and through keynote speaking; 2) Consulting and facilitation – working with leaders to develop their business strategies and performance scorecards; 3) Publishing – through books, articles and manuals.

Graham is also President of Reinvent Australia which is a collaborative initiative open to all Australians who wish to join in the conversation about a shared vision for the nation. Reinvent Australia was formed in response to the evident and rising concern that Australia faces significant economic and social challenges if it is to deliver a high quality of life for all its citizens.Graham’s executive experience has been extensive - as a turnaround manager, CEO, Plant Manager, Market Development Manager, Design Engineer and Construction Supervisor. He has also enjoyed a successful academic career having been a Professor of Management in universities in the US and Canada. He holds PhD and Master Degrees in Management with a first degree in engineering.Graham is a Foundation Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Member of the U.S. Academy of Management and a Member of the U.S. Strategic Management Society.

Graham will provide a practical framework for all members to use when they need to turn their strategic vision into reality. It contains practical advice that, if followed, cuts through the management speak and jargon, and helps focus your organisation's agile strategic planning activity.

Adrian Hart, Manager Client Services, Associations Forum

Adrian Hart, Manager Client Services, Associations Forum, is a senior advisor to professional, industry and business related associations. He has over 30 year’s association management and board governance experience, including Chief Executive and Board Chair roles.

Through Associations Forum, he has provided governance training and advisory services, plus undertaken external reviews, and assisted several federated organisations transition to single national bodies.

He seeks to create excellence in association governance and management leading to positive outcomes in client industries, market places and community generally. His specific areas of interest include, governance & strategy, change management, member acquisition, media relations, policy development & lobbying, member benefit programs and external reviews.

Anna Meares, OAM an Australian Olympic Champion and Motivational Speaker

After growing up in the small Queensland mining town of Middlemount, Anna was inspired to become a cyclist by her sister Kerrie after they watched Kathy Watt win the cycling gold medal at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. Anna started cycling competitively the same year, aged just 11, with the nearest cycling track around 300kms away in Mackay.

Anna's training paid off when she not only won the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics, but she was also the youngest Australian track cyclist to win Olympic gold, and the first Australian female track cyclist to win an Olympic gold medal. To top it off, she also set a new world and Olympic record in the Women's 500 metre time trial of 33.952 seconds before winning a bronze medal in the Women's Sprint, and was later awarded an Order of Australia medal for her achievement.

In an unforeseen circumstance, Anna broke her back at the Los Angeles World Cup. She was thrown from her bike in a collision with other riders and sustained a hairline fracture to her C2 vertebrae. After Anna experienced this life changing incident, she was determined to continue on with her aspirations as an Olympic champion, hear how her journey evolved as she provides us with an insightful presentation on motivation, leadership and resilience.

Angie Simon, President Western Allied and President-Elect SMACNA National

Angie has been a leader in the Bay Area construction industry for many years. Starting as a young 22 year old project manager in the late 80's when there were very few women in construction to becoming the president of a $70 Million Mechanical contracting firm with over 220 people. She is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer and has worked for WAM for 30+ years.

Angie graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is an active alumni member of the Mechanical Engineering program along with supporting the Cal Poly Mustangs softball team who she played for throughout her college years.

Angie is currently on the National SMACNA board serving as Vice President. In 2019, Angie will be the first ever women national President for SMACNA which represents over 1800 contractors in the US and Canada. She also is co-chair of the SMACNA Women in Construction leadership council and is vice-chair of the New Horizon's foundation.

LeRoy Ginn, Vice President of ACCO Engineered Systems and President Elect MCAA Northern California

LeRoy Ginn is the Vice President for ACCO Engineered Systems and Head of Business Development strategy and execution throughout Northern California. LeRoy works closely with ACCO project, service, and plumbing groups, as well as ACCO subsidiary -Sunbelt Controls.

Phillip Phillips, Vice President of Operations Southland Industries and President MCAA Northern California

As Vice President of Operations for Southland's Northern California Division, Mr. Phillips is responsible for all project management staff recruiting, growth, and performance. With over 30 years of construction management experience, he ensures that all of the division's projects are delivered with the high quality and value that clients have come to expect from Southland. Mr. Phillips is also involved with multiple associations and committees that focus on improvement within the industry, such as Northern California MCA, the Lean Construction Institute, Bay Area SMACNA and Cal SMACNA.

Tom Walker, Principal, Clelands Lawyers

Over his 25 years of practice Tom has acted on behalf of many builder clients, both domestic and commercial, and has developed good working relationships with many expert building and quantity surveying witnesses in Adelaide.

Tom has experience in insolvency law, in particular the winding up of corporations, the setting aside of insolvent transactions and recovering preferential payments, as well as defending both types of claims.

He also deals with commercial transactions, including sales of business, property development agreements, retail and commercial leasing, shareholder agreements and joint venture agreements of all types.
