AMCA raises procurement as an ACIF policy priority

Published: 5 December 2018

The AMCA attended a meeting of the Australian Construction Innovation Forum (ACIF) in Canberra this week, where industry representatives discussed a range of issues affecting members and the broader industry.

With the Federal Election imminent, members of ACIF—which includes representatives from across the building supply chain—initially identified four key priorities:

  • Endorse all recommendations made in the Shergold-Weir Building Confidence Report;
  • Retain the Australian Building and Construction Commission;
  • Support for the BIM Strategy of the Australasian BIM Advisory Board; and
  • Establish an effective regime to minimise the use of non-conforming building products.

The AMCA noted that procurement practices and contract conditions are a priority for AMCA members and received broad support from other ACIF representatives for its addition to the ACIF policy priorities for 2019.

The AMCA will continue to work with ACIF and other allies to proactively pursue these priorities leading up to the election in May 2019.
