Last month, representatives of the AMCA, Scott Polsen (President) and James Cameron (Executive Director), met with the Executive Branch Manager for Construction and Utilities in the ACT Government, Ben Green.
Given the mounting concerns about building standards at the moment, the meeting allowed the AMCA to discuss a range of issues impacting AMCA members.
In particular, we took the opportunity to once again advocate for a licensing framework for mechanical services in the ACT.
This recommendation was made in our submission to the ACT government’s consultation process on building quality in 2018, where we highlighted concerns regarding the competency of new entrants given the lack of quality training requirements.
The AMCA will meet with Mr Green again in the coming weeks to continue discussions.
