Industry groups release joint statement calling for reform

Published: 16 July 2019

In response to mounting concerns about building quality standards, representatives of several influential industry groups have released a joint statement encouraging governments to take coordinated action.

The joint statement issued by the Australian Construction Industry Forum, Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), Insurance Council of Australia, Master Builders Australia and the Property Council of Australia highlighted a lack of action on building reform, which has culminated in various building practitioners struggling to secure the insurance they require for registration, as well as hefty premium increases.

As members of the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF), the AMCA supports the essence of the media release, especially the call for a joint government-industry taskforce to oversee urgent and consistent implementation of all Shergold-Weir recommendations across all jurisdictions.

We will continue to work with government and industry colleagues to advocate for a suitable outcome.
