AMCA Responds to Final Recommendations of the Security of Payment Laws Review

Published: 17 July 2018

Security of Payment is a critical issue for our members, who are significant employers of workers onsite and have frequently cited delayed payment as the source of financial stress.

The AMCA was afforded several opportunities to meet with and provide feedback to Mr John Murray throughout the consultation process, whom we know consulted widely across the sector.  We commend Mr Murray for his thorough approach to this review and have confidence in the balance of his recommendations.

It is our belief that a harmonised model would allow more reliable quantitative and qualitative data to be collected on the effectiveness of the regime over time, providing a stronger evidence base for incremental improvements.

We encourage the Building Ministers’ Forum and the Commonwealth Government to work closely with each state and territory to progress a harmonised Security of Payment regime.
