AMCA training pods being deployed nationally

28 February 2023

The training pods have been developed by AMCA Australia to support the training and assessment of essential building safety measures.

Fifteen cutting-edge training pods, which we believe are the first of their type in Australia, are being rolled out nationally to support the training and assessment of essential building safety measures.

The first pods have been deployed in the past week to the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) Narre Warren facility in Victoria. The remaining pods will be deployed to Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales in the coming weeks.

The three pods being distributed to each jurisdiction are:

  • Fire damper Installation pod
  • Smoke damper installation and operation pod
  • Stair pressurisation and operation pod

The training pods simulate full-scale real-life scenarios involving fire and smoke dampers, as well as stair pressurisation which is an area of growing importance relating to essential building safety measures.

The pods have been designed as training aids and can be used for the following training courses:

  • Fire system design
  • Installation of fire, smoke and air dampers
  • Validate the installation of fire, smoke and air dampers
  • Inspect, test and repair fire and smoke control features of mechanical services systems
  • Commission, service and maintain air conditioning systems

We’ll keep you posted on new courses which will be available shortly.
